Nothing brings a smile to your face quite like a summer getaway. Still, planning travel this time of year poses unique challenges – especially if you’re traveling with your family or a group.
Here are RDU’s tips for making the most of your travel experience – and getting you to paradise worry-free.
Book your parking online.
RDU now offers online booking for all of our parking options. Whether you like to park like a pro in Premier, or want to find savings at our Economy Lots, you now can secure your parking in advance at ParkRDU.com. Register your account today and find the lowest available daily rates, exclusively on our online booking tool.
While you’re there, you can read all about RDU’s newest parking option, Park Express. At Express, you can enjoy shuttle service right at your trunk, complete with complimentary Load & Go luggage assistance and bottled water. Shuttles run every five minutes, and after a short ride, you’ll be dropped off at the terminal curb.
Know what you can pack.
Even seasoned business travelers might want to spend extra time thinking about what to take on that beach getaway. Contact your airline for information on checked bag fees and carry-on limits. Read about what is allowed at the security checkpoint. And brush up on the 3-1-1 rule for carry-on bags.
Get to the airport early.
RDU recently opened additional lanes at the Terminal 2 security checkpoint for added convenience, but it’s better to be safe than sorry: plan to arrive at the airport at least two hours before your flight departs. Add time if you’re traveling internationally. During peak travel season, more people are coming to the airport.
Embrace the vacay.
You made it! We hope you remembered to pack your flip-flops. If not, spend some time browsing our retail shops for the right look (and maybe a snack for the flight). And we have more than 20 dining choices, from table service to grab-and-go, local favorites and national brands. We know it’s difficult to stay on track with dieting during a vacation, so you’ll be able to find diet-conscious choices at RDU, too.
