Customers are Encouraged to Book Parking in Advance Online
Work to improve levels two through six of RDU’s parking garage will resume in early January after pausing for the busy holiday travel season. The number of available spaces in the parking garage will be reduced by an average of 1,150 a week starting Jan. 3 through mid-May.
The project began just after Labor Day weekend and was put on hold from late November to early January to make parking more convenient during the holidays. From September to November, the deck periodically reached capacity and temporarily closed due to the reduced number of available spaces.
“This is a good time to remind customers to reserve parking in advance with our online booking system,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “Customers who book online at least 24 hours in advance are guaranteed entry into the lot of their choice at the lowest daily rate.”
Customers who don’t book parking in advance at ParkRDU.com risk being redirected to a different lot because there aren’t enough spaces in the deck. The ParkRDU Express lot, located on International Drive, is a good option for customers who don’t book early and find that the garage is full.
Newly installed electronic parking signs along the airport roadways notify drivers of which parking lots are open and which are full. The signs also remind customers that even if a particular lot is full, there are still spaces available for customers who booked online in advance.
You may also notice hard hats and construction in the parking garage. RDU recently kicked off a campaign to improve the elevators, escalators and passenger walkways that help passengers get where they need to go. You can read more about the project on our blog.
