Let’s Fly! Delta adds DCA, Frontier Returns

Welcome to the April edition of Let’s Fly! Doing business in the nation’s capital? Delta has expanded options for travel to D.C. Frontier Airlines is back for 2016 with seven routes from RDU. And, JetBlue has increased flights to Boston and Ft. Lauderdale for the summer season.

Delta Expands RDU-DCA Options

On August 1, Delta Air Lines will launch four new daily nonstop flights between RDU and Washington-Reagan Airport.

The flights will go on sale Saturday, April 30 and begin August 1.  The flights will operate using CRJ-900 aircraft with both business and economy seating.

The departure times from RDU are listed below. The flights are well timed for business travel to Washington. The flight from RDU to DCA takes about an hour and 10 minutes.

  • 6:40 a.m.
  • 10:35 a.m.
  • 2:35 p.m.
  • 6:20 p.m.

More than 500 travelers a day fly between RDU and Washington-area airports. American Airlines currently serves RDU-DCA with seven daily flights.

Frontier Airlines Returns for 2016

Frontier Airlines famous “spokesanimals” have returned to RDU’s Terminal 2 for 2016. This year, the airline is introducing nonstop service from RDU to Atlanta, Orlando International and Philadelphia as well as returning popular service to Chicago-O’Hare, Cleveland, Denver and Trenton.

Flights to each city began the week of April 15 and operate on peak travel days.

JetBlue Airlines Increases Boston and JFK Flights

RDU travelers to JetBlue’s hubs in Boston and New York-Kennedy will soon have more options. Beginning the first week of May, the airline is adding new flights to the two cities from RDU. The airline is adding one daily flight each to Boston and New York-Kennedy. The additions will be in effect throughout the summer months.

Southwest Adds Vegas Service

Heading to Las Vegas? Southwest Airlines is adding an additional daily nonstop flight to Nevada’s largest city beginning June 5. This marks the return of an additional flight that will offer travelers a morning departure time in addition to the popular late afternoon departure currently offered.

Paris Service Debuts in Two Weeks

On Thursday, May 12, Delta Air Lines launches daily nonstop service from RDU to Paris-Charles De Gaulle Airport. The inaugural outbound flight is nearly sold out and the airport is planning a celebration at the gate for passengers on the first flight.
