REAL ID Enforcement Begins May 7

A REAL ID or other federally approved identification document will be required to board flights at RDU and airports across the U.S. starting May 7. On that date, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will begin enforcing the REAL ID Act, which requires a REAL ID, U.S. passport or other federally approved identification to board commercial flights.

Passengers who do not have a REAL ID or an acceptable alternative can expect to face delays, additional screening and the possibility of not being allowed into the airport’s security checkpoint.

RDU is working proactively with TSA to help provide a smooth travel experience for guests and minimize delays. The airport’s Guest Experience team will also be available outside the security checkpoint to communicate with passengers about the REAL ID requirement.
