RDU Hosting “Salute To Bluegrass” This Week

RDU Airport, NC – Raleigh-Durham International Airport is hosting a “Salute to Bluegrass” this week to welcome those attending the 2014 International Bluegrass Music Association’s World of Bluegrass events in Raleigh. The series is an extension of the airport’s year-round music series, which features live performances on the first Friday of each month and on peak travel days during the Thanksgiving and year-end holidays.

Local bluegrass groups will perform in the terminals during peak arrival and departure periods, welcoming the thousands of expected artists, fans and music industry professionals expected to attend this year’s events.

Two of the participating artists have several accolades to their credit. Blue Lightning took top prize at the 2012 Got To Be N.C. Festival and Lorraine Jordan and Carolina Road’s single, “That’s Kentucky,” rated number one on Bluegrass Today’s weekly and monthly charts in November 2013.
