Avelo Adds New Flights and Aircraft, More Jobs at RDU

Airline Has Expanded from One Route to 10 Since 2022

Avelo Airlines is growing again at RDU, adding more destinations, a second aircraft and creating about 35 more local jobs. Avelo will add nonstop flights to Memphis, TN; Manchester, NH; and Rochester, NY in June.

“The partnership between RDU and Avelo continues to expand as they add more flights, station more aircraft and create more jobs to support the crews based here,” said Michael Landguth, president and CEO of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority. “We appreciate their investment in the Research Triangle and look forward to growing with them in the future.”

Avelo’s second aircraft will be a Boeing 737-800 that seats 189 travelers. Avelo has grown quickly at RDU since launching service in 2022, expanding from one destination to 10 and adding at least 80 direct and non-direct aviation jobs in less than a year.

Avelo Airlines Chairman and CEO Andrew Levy said, “Triangle Region – we’re at it again! The addition of a second aircraft to our RDU base means more nonstop destinations and more jobs for Raleigh, Durham and the surrounding communities. Residents can now choose from three more popular destinations — Memphis, Rochester and the gateway to New England —  Manchester. We are very encouraged by the early momentum Avelo is experiencing here. We’re just getting started and look forward to inspiring even more travel among our RDU customers.”

The schedule for Avelo’s new RDU routes will be:

  • Rochester, NY: Mondays and Fridays starting June 14
  • Memphis, TN: Mondays Fridays starting June 14
  • Manchester, NH: Thursdays and Sundays starting June 21

Avelo serves Tweed-New Haven in southern Connecticut from RDU, along with Fort Lauderdale, Fort Myers, Orlando, Palm Beach, Sarasota and Tampa in Florida. Last month, the airline opened a base at RDU and created more than 50 jobs to support it.
