Alaska Airlines to Launch Service at Raleigh-Durham International Airport with Non-stop Service to Seattle

RDU Airport, NC – Seattle-based Alaska Airlines today announced it will launch service at Raleigh-Durham International Airport with non-stop service to Seattle. The new service will begin Oct. 1 and operate seven days a week on a 163-seat Boeing 737.

“The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is excited to welcome Alaska Airlines to our community,” said Airport Authority President and CEO Michael Landguth. “Service to Seattle has been at the top of our list of most wanted destinations and rounds out the service now offered from RDU to the West Coast.”

Each year, more than 146,000 passengers travel between RDU and Seattle. The business synergies that connect the two destinations are the life sciences and biotechnology industries.

From Seattle, passengers will have access to 83 cities the airline serves, including popular destinations on the West Coast and in the Pacific Northwest. Tickets go on sale today.

The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority began talking to Alaska Airlines in 2007 as the number of passengers traveling between the two regions continued to grow.
