John Brantley Boulevard Extension

Less congestion, less stress

We’re widening and extending our main roadway to improve traffic flow around the airport. Additional lanes will reduce delays and minimize bottlenecks, and a longer curbside will allow for quicker pick-ups and drop-offs at Terminal 2.

Project highlights: To accommodate current and future traffic volumes, RDU will extend and widen its primary roadway, John Brantley Boulevard. This will help address congestion issues while providing safe and convenient access to the airport for guests.

The project will add capacity on the roadway and expand the Terminal 2 curbside. It will also reconfigure the intersection with International Drive and reduce merging traffic.

The project is currently in the design phase. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2026, with expected completion in late 2030.
