RDU to Hold Master Plan Public Meetings June 1 and 2

Airport to share 9 potential development alternatives to meet future demand

RDU Airport, N.C. – The public is invited to learn about the latest stage of Raleigh-Durham International Airport’s (RDU) 18-month master planning process, Vision 2040, during workshops on June 1 and 2.

Public workshops will be held in Raleigh (June 1, 6 p.m., at the Wake County Commons Building, 4011 Carya Dr.), and in Durham (June 2, 6 p.m., at the Durham Armory, 220 Foster St.).

Master plan consultants from Ricondo & Associates Inc. will share nine conceptual airport development layouts that focus on improvements to runways and taxiways, terminals, parking, roadways, ground transportation, general aviation and other support facilities.

The public is invited to provide feedback at the meetings, which will be considered as the final alternative is determined. Feedback can be shared either in-person at the meetings, or on the master plan website at vision2040.rdu.com. The alternatives will be posted after the June 2 meeting.

RDU’s master plan, to be finalized by the end of 2016, will spell out how the airport will meet expected demand and improve facilities, over the next 25 years. The plan will also include funding and implementation plans.
