Travelers will start to see construction in Terminal 2 in early January 2026 when crews install a temporary floor-to-ceiling wall at the north end of the terminal. The area will be closed off for construction for approximately two years as crews expand the ticketing and international arrivals areas, add security checkpoint lanes and upgrade the baggage handling system. If you are traveling through RDU in the new year, you may see and hear construction work in Terminal 2, but all ticket counters and security checkpoint lanes will remain open. RDU’s guest experience team will be in the terminal if you have questions or need any assistance.
The terminal project is expected to be completed in 2032 as part of the airport’s $2.5 billion Transform RDU capital improvement program. Learn more about the Terminal 2 Expansion at TransformRDU.com.
