Terminal 2
RDU has elevated the passenger experience with the opening of Terminal 2. Home to Air Canada, American, Charter Express, Delta and United, the new terminal also serves as a gateway to the Research Triangle Region.
Upon entering Terminal 2, passengers will notice a spacious, light-filled ticketing level with nearly 40 self-check in kiosks and island style ticket counters that reduce congestion. Visitors may dine at Panopolis or shop at Drugs and More, RDU’s first pre-security restaurant and retail concessions.
After checking-in, it is only a few steps to the security checkpoint which is located on the same level. Terminal 2 features seven checkpoint lanes available for use by the Transportation Security Administration with plenty of room to collect personal belongings.
On the concourse, passengers can enjoy natural light and views of the airfield from floor to ceiling windows. They can taste fare from local restaurants such as 42nd Street Oyster Bar, Carolina Ale House and Brookwood Farms BBQ or national chains such as California Pizza Kitchen, Gordon Biersch and KFC Express.
Retail shopping includes EJE Travel Retail, RDU’s first Duty Free Shop. Popular reading outlets include 2nd Edition Booksellers or Borders Books. Customers can browse for gifts and travel necessities at University Marketplace and Shaw News or find the perfect gift at Techshowcase or Anders Natural Soap Co.
Two moving walkways are new features for RDU, allowing passengers to arrive at their gate effortlessly. Twenty percent of the gate area seats are equipped with power outlets to support traveler’s needs while waiting for flights to depart.
