Emergency Information Dissemination

Following is a summary of information disseminated during an emergency and the agency responsible for communicating with the media:

  • Confirmation of incident: The Office of Marketing Communications (Marketing office) will respond to incidents that occur on airport property. The communications manager will act as the primary spokesperson for the airport and will follow protocol for providing information that falls under the jurisdiction of airlines and other federal agencies.
  • Cause of an aircraft incident: The National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and the airline involved will release the cause of the incident once the investigation has been complete.
  • Passenger manifest: Only the airline involved will release the passenger list.
  • Passenger and baggage screening information: The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) will release any information involving the security screening process.
  • Air Traffic Control communication: The Federal Aviation Administration will release the communication between the pilot of an aircraft and the control tower.
