America West Celebrates Inaugural Flight at RDU

America West Airlines today held a launch party to celebrate its inaugural flight from RDU. The airline now offers service between RDU and its hubs in Phoenix and Las Vegas.

Festivities included a cake cutting, music and an appearance by Carry-on, the airline's corporate character who greeted the airline's first guests.

The airline, which first announced service to RDU last year, will offer two daily departures to Phoenix and one daily departure four days a week to Las Vegas.

America West's service provides Triangle leisure and business travelers with a gateway to the West coast.

The airline's hub in Phoenix offers passengers connections to 40 West coast cities, including Los Angeles, Silicon Valley, Seattle and Reno.

Through its hubs in Phoenix, Las Vegas and Columbus, Ohio, America West serves 92 destinations with over 900 daily departures.
