Friendly Folks Debuts
New mural is 8th artwork in Terminal 2

Local artist Jane Filer's Friendly Folks mural is now on display in the international bag claim area of Terminal 2. It is the 8th artwork to be displayed in Terminal 2.

The 45-foot painting was commissioned by the Triangle Area Sister Cities to celebrate the Research Triangle Region's 13 international sister cities. It features images of smiling, happy figures mixed with images from various countries and North Carolina symbols. The theme of the painting is Sister Cities International's slogan, “World Peace: One Friend, One Community at a Time.”

In 2008, TASC, which represents the collective efforts of Cary, Durham, Raleigh and Southern Pines Sister Cities Associations, formed the TASC RDU Airport art project (TRAAP). The objective of the project was to commission a work by a local artist to promote the sister cities mission.
