Offers Tips for Spring Break Travelers
RDU AIRPORT,
NC (March 5, 2003) - The busy spring travel season kicks off
this weekend as college students from the areas major universities begin
spring break. The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is reminding passengers
to arrive two hours before their flight departs to allow time for parking,
check-in and the security screening process.
Daily, hourly and
remote parking is available to passengers driving to the airport. Electronic
signs will guide drivers to lots with available parking spaces.
Passengers should
be reminded that the terminal curb is reserved for active loading and
unloading. The airport’s hourly lots are open for drivers who are
picking up passengers or accompanying them into the terminals and are
conveniently located across from Terminals A and C.
The Airport Authority
and the Transportation Security Administration are also reminding travelers
to:
- Bring a government-issued
photo ID.
- Limit carry-on
items to one bag and one personal item.
- Leave bags unlocked.
The federal government is now screening all checked luggage and asks
passengers to leave their bags unlocked.
- Remove all sharp
objects from carry-on bags before arriving at the airport. Items most
commonly left behind at security checkpoint are scissors and pocketknives.
- Place undeveloped
film in carry-on baggage. Checked baggage screening equipment will damage
undeveloped film.
- Place cell phones,
pagers, keys and other metal objects in carry-on bags before proceeding
through security checkpoint.
- Remember e-ticket
confirmation. E-ticket travelers will be required to show written confirmation
from their airline confirming a reservation.

tips, as well as a complete list of prohibited and permitted items, can
