Remains Open; Southwest Airlines Continues Operations and Airlines Tentatively
Plan for Evening Flights
RDU
Airport, NC (11:30 a.m. EST) - Raleigh-Durham International Airport
remains open and Southwest Airlines continues to operate a full schedule.
Other airlines at RDU have canceled flights throughout the afternoon but
have reported that they will resume limited operations this evening if
weather permits.
RDU urges passengers with travel
plans to call the appropriate reservation number to confirm flight departure
as further changes are possible. Travelers can also visit airline web
sites to find out the status of their flight. A link to a flight tracking
web site can also be found at www.rdu.com.
The following airlines have
canceled flights for the remainder of the day: Air Canada, AmericaWest
and US Airways. American Airlines and American Eagle have canceled all
flights scheduled to depart after 1:00 p.m. today.
A this time, Southwest Airlines
plans to operate a full schedule, however, flights to Baltimore-Washington
may be impacted as the storm moves north. Other airlines have tentatively
scheduled limited inbound and outbound flights for this evening.
RDU will remain open
throughout the storm. The terminals will remain open throughout the storm.
The airport encourages passengers to come to the airport only if their
flight is scheduled to depart.
