Allow Plenty of Time for Holiday Travel

RDU Airport, NC --- To reduce travel stress, passengers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) are reminded to allow plenty of time during the busy Thanksgiving holiday season. "Whether you're parking at RDU or having a loved one drop you off, allowing plenty of time is the number one travel tip this holiday season," says Mike Blanton, RDU Public Affairs Manager.

"Smart holiday travelers will plan to arrive at the airport at least two hours prior to their scheduled departures." Travelers are also being asked to go directly to the Park and Ride lots and catch courtesy shuttles to avoid congestion in front of the terminals. Airport courtesy buses provide service between the Park and Ride lots and the terminals every 15 minutes.

Drivers picking up or dropping off passengers should use the Hourly parking lots in front of the terminals. Vehicles are not allowed to wait at the curb for arriving passengers. Unattended vehicles left at the curb will be towed immediately due to security and congestion concerns.

To reduce stress, use these travel tips:

Allow plenty of time
Use Park and Ride lots during busy travel times
Use Hourly parking near terminals to pick up/drop off a loved one
Go to www.rdu.com for maps, airline links and transportation details
Bring government-issued photo identification
Write down where you park
