ExitExpress at General Aviation

General Aviation (GA) area parking lots are part of the public parking facilities at RDU and feature ExitExpress — an automated way to pay for parking. GA parking during the first four hours is FREE and afterwards charged at a rate of $3 per 24 hours or any part thereof.

What is ExitExpress?

ExitExpress
allows you to pay for parking quickly and easily. ExitExpress reads your parking ticket and accepts payment in cash or by credit card.

How does ExitExpress work?

ExitExpress
is not only a fast way to pay for parking, but it is also easy to use. You can pay for parking at an ExitExpress pay station with cash or credit card, or you can proceed to the exit lane and pay with a credit card.

To use an ExitExpress pay station:

  1. Take a parking ticket as you enter the lot. Keep your ticket in a safe place, you will need it to exit.
  2. When you are ready to leave, insert your ticket into the ExitExpress pay station. Follow the screen prompts and pay using cash or credit card. Select the “receipt” option on the screen to receive a receipt. The machine will validate your ticket and return it to you. The receipt is dispensed after your paid ticket is removed.
  3. Upon approaching the exit lane, insert your paid ticket, and you're on your way. (The receipt is for your records only. It will not permit you to exit.)

To pay at the exit lane with your credit card:

  1. Insert your parking ticket into the exit lane ticket reader.
  2. Insert your credit card into the same slot. After the payment is verified, your credit card will be returned.
  3. Wait for your receipt to be dispensed after you remove your credit card.

The exit lane accepts credit cards only. Cash payments must be made at an ExitExpress pay station.

What if I'm in the lot for less than 4 hours?

The first four hours in General Aviation parking lots are covered under a “grace period.” There is no charge. Simply insert your parking ticket into the machine as you exit the lot. After four hours, there is a $3 charge per 24 hours or any part thereof.

Can I pre-pay my parking fees?

Payment must be made at the time of exiting. Once a payment is made, you have 30 minutes to exit the facility or be charged another $3 per 24 hour period.

What if I lose my parking ticket?

  1. If you lose your parking ticket, you must go to one of the ExitExpress pay stations and press the “lost ticket” button. A “lost ticket fee” will be displayed on the screen.
  2. The fee may be paid with cash or credit card. Once the fee is paid, the machine will issue a paid ticket to be used in the exit lane.
  3. Please wait for your receipt. If you happen to find your original ticket, you can obtain a refund for the difference in the fees. You will need your receipt to obtain a refund.

What's different about ExitExpress in the General Aviation area?

Many customers are familiar with using ExitExpress in the parking garages. ExitExpress at the General Aviation area is a completely automated process, with customer service assistance available only through an intercom system. All lost ticket transactions are processed using the ExitExpress pay station.
