Rendering of Terminal 1 Modernization ProjectRDU issues call to artists for Terminal 1

The Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority (Airport Authority) is seeking up to five public artworks for the renovation of Terminal 1 at the Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) located in the Research Triangle Region of North Carolina. The artwork sites will be located in Terminal 1 which is undergoing renovation between 2012 through 2013. The budget for the design, fabrication and installation for each of these artworks ranges from $20,000 to $300,000 each.

Potential sites include: a glass wall, a mosaic or wall mural, a suspended artwork, terrazzo floor design and an outdoor roof screen. Artists selected to complete a proposal for a specific site will receive a stipend of $2,250 which includes all travel and lodging. If artist’s proposal is selected, then the artist will receive a proposal design contract for their work. The budget, unless otherwise stated, should include all costs including: design, materials, engineering, fabrication, installation, insurance, sales tax, storage, and transportation.
