The Departure Experience

• Departing passengers enter a central atrium with ceilings up to 60 feet high.
• Three check-in islands decrease congestion in the check-in area.
• 60 automated kiosks for passengers with electronic tickets.
• A state-of-the-art baggage system screens all checked luggage behind the scenes, removing the equipment and process from the terminal lobby.
• Ten security checkpoint lanes will be available to the Transportation Security Administration.
• An open air market greets passengers as they exit the checkpoint.
• Moving walkways transport you along the concourse which features large, glass windows that give you a panoramic view of the airfield.

• Passengers arriving at RDU exit the concourse into the central atrium.
• A new area for family and friends meeting arriving passengers is located near the central atrium.
• An expanded baggage claim area includes five carousels.
• A new federal inspection facility for international travelers allows processing of 400 passengers per hour.
