Passenger Statistics

Nearly 9 million passengers traveled through RDU in 2009, a 7.7 percent drop from 2008, which was one of the highest passenger traffic years on record. The lower numbers are the direct result of the worldwide economic downturn as airlines reacted to changing economic conditions by reducing the number of seats available to customers. However, monthly statistics show that toward the end of 2009, there was a marked increase in both enplanements and deplanements.
