Passenger and visitor safety is always a priority at RDU. Law enforcement and fire fighters/EMS are to make sure passengers are safe and secure.

Airport Police Department — RDU's police are municipal police who ensure the overall safety of passengers and visitors to RDU as well as property in and around the airport. For more information call (919) 840-7550.

Emergency Services — RDU EMS/Firefighters' responsibilities include firefighting, aircraft rescue, structural fire protection, emergency medical services and other emergency services as needed. To contact Emergency Services, call (919) 840-2111.

Federal Agencies
Federal Aviation Administration
The FAA is responsible for air traffic control and the certification of airports, airlines, airplanes and pilots.

Transportation Security Administration (TSA)
The TSA operates all security checkpoints at RDU.

Department of Homeland Security (DHS)
DHS provides a coordinated defense of the country and is dedicated to protecting the rights of American citizens and enhancing public services, such as natural disaster assistance and citizenship services.

Customs and Border Protection (CBP)
The primary mission of CBP is to prevent terrorists and terrorist weapons from entering the United States . CBP is also responsible for apprehending individuals from attempting to enter the United States illegally.
