Emergency Services

RDU's firefighters are on duty 24-hours a day, 365-days a year. This critical department has a range of important responsibilities from answering daily medical calls to responding to major aircraft emergencies.

Of the thousands of calls the Emergency Services Department will answer this year, most are routine inspections or minor problems. Less than five percent are considered true emergencies. RDU's firefighters are all trained as EMTs and receive extensive specialized airport training that makes all the difference in saving lives in the event of a major accident.
