Airport Debuts New Travel Tools

Planning a trip from RDU recently became easier with the debut of two new travel tools on the airport's Web site. The tools allow passengers to check the status of flights and book flights from www.rdu.com. They are in addition to the airport's online flight schedules.

“These tools represent the beginning of a shift in the way the Airport Authority presents information to the public,” said Teresa Damiano, Airport Authority director of marketing. “We have seen that there is an untapped opportunity to serve our passengers by providing them with travel planning tools.”

Passengers can now check the status of
their flight online before leaving home.

The tools include:

Flight Status
The new flight status tool allows users to see the same flight status data online that is displayed in the airport’s terminals. Supplied by the Official Airline Guide (OAG), it provides information on delays and cancellations, as well as whether flights are set to arrive early.

Quicktrip.com
Another tool for travel planning is Quicktrip.com. This Web application allows users to search for flights to and from RDU, and book them through well known travel sites such as Expedia and Travelocity, and through an airline’s Web site.

Flight Schedules
A popular tool for RDU travelers for many years, this interactive database allows travelers the ability to search for flights to and from RDU. The OAG program allows users to type in their desired destination and see a list of all corresponding flights. The guide shows users connection options, as well as the airlines and their codeshare partners who are operating the flight.

In 2009, the airport added Airfarewatchdog.com to its Web site. This feature searches for airfare deals and posts them on a scroll to www.rdu.com.
