Board Approves Burger King for
Aviation Station

In December, the Airport Authority Board approved the development of a Burger King restaurant at Aviation Station. Prospect Foods, LLC, of Huntersville will build and operate the restaurant.

The restaurant will be the second unit at Aviation Station, located at the intersection of Aviation Parkway and National Guard Drive at RDU. Burger King will be located next to Sheetz, which opened in June 2007. Site preparation will begin in Spring 2010 with the restaurant expected to open in late Fall 2010.

In 2005, the Airport Authority began the process of opening Aviation Station to further enhance the customer experience at RDU. The intersection was chosen because of its prime location at one of the main entrances to RDU, as well as the lack of other services nearby.

Future plans call for the addition of a casual dining restaurant at the site. A new service road connecting the restaurant with National Guard Drive and Aviation Parkway will also be built at the site.
