Exciting Time Ahead for RDU

Students on spring break, as well as families and leisure travelers, can be seen in full force in the concourses at both of our terminals here at RDU, all a sure sign the long economic winter is melting and a return to growth is surely ahead.

We were certainly honored to learn that RDU's new Terminal 2 was one of the reasons cited by the National Hockey League for its decision to award the Carolina Hurricanes and the city of Raleigh the 2011 NHL All-Star Game. We are looking forward to this exciting event and will do our best as the region's gateway airport to provide visitors and fans with a first-class experience.

Regarding of Terminal 2, we are eagerly anticipating its completion. Crews are working hard to bring the facility to completion. Recent visitors to Terminal 2 will certainly notice a sign of progress, the wall adjoining the new construction has been replaced by a large curtain that is enabling crews to blend the two phases of the building seamlessly.

As construction continues this year, we are seeing new air service being added for passengers traveling to and through the Research Triangle Region. This is certainly good news and a testament to the strength of our region. Without strong business roots in the community and the hard work of the area's economic development groups and business community, the mutual growth of RDU and the region would not be possible.

It looks as though exciting times are ahead for Raleigh-Durham International Airport. We look forward to what the future holds as we continue to provide for the travel needs of the region.

Travel Safe,
