In an air service study conducted by the Airport Authority in 2005, Denver was identified as one of the top three domestic destinations for which nonstop service could be supported. In April 2007, United Airlines began service to Denver. With Southwest’s announcement, west bound travelers will have two options for daily nonstop service to the mile high city.
Estimates show that approximately 400 passengers travel between RDU and Denver each day. The Triangle region and Denver are home to similar business leaders in the finance, high-tech and healthcare sectors.
In 2007, other new cities were added to RDU’s roster of nonstop destinations including Bentonville, AK; Birmingham; Jacksonville FL; Kansas City, MO; Louisville; Milwaukee; New Orleans and San Antonio.
Throughout January and February, airlines serving RDU will also begin addition service to Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, while Delta Airlines will begin weekly service to Cancun.
