From the Chairman
Happy New Year
2008 will prove to be one of the most significant years in RDU’s history. The first phase of Terminal 2, the largest construction project the airport has ever undertaken, will open later this year. The second phase will open in late 2010.
Terminal 2 features state of the art airport design and technology to greatly improve the customer experience. As a gateway to the Research Triangle region, it will reflect our region’s heritage of craftsmanship and innovation.
While Terminal 2 is a milestone in the airport’s terminal development plans, it’s only the first of many improvements at RDU.

When Terminal 2 opens, Terminal A will get a much needed make-over that will ease lobby congestion, improve the security screening process, incorporate the latest technology and simplify the passenger travel experience. The terminal that served our region so well for over fifty years will be renamed Terminal 1.
While construction on Terminal A is underway, RDU will be planning other major construction projects to keep up with the demands and needs of our region.
Many studies rank the Triangle as a great place to live and work. Raleigh-Durham International Airport is proud of our role as a partner in making that happen, and we will continue looking forward to support the needs of our growing region.
Have a great new year.
