From the Chairman
Especially at the Holidays…RDU Is All About You

It is common knowledge that travel can be stressful. Add to that normal stress traveling with small children, packing for longer stays, presents and extended family visits, and passengers can be holding on by a very thin thread. In our ongoing commitment to be the best possible airport for our customers, we try to anticipate these stressors and offer small solutions to help ease the stress.

More than 300,000 passengers traveled through our terminals during the holiday season. To help make everyone’s travel go as smoothly as possible each year, we assembled a Holiday Operations Team to analyze everything from number of tickets sold to assisting passengers with new TSA guidelines. Through the efforts of this team, we came up with a plan of action to help our passengers.

Employees of the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority take shifts assisting travelers in the terminals, at the security checkpoints and in the Park & Ride lots. RDU gave out zip top baggies to help folks who were unfamiliar with the new liquids and gels restrictions. To help soothe frazzled nerves and fill travelers with good cheer, we also filled the terminals with music, festive decorations and free activities on the concourses.
