From the Chairman

This summer the Airport Authority has a lot to share with the traveling public. New service to new destinations, a RDU travel guide to help you locate what you need at the airport and large murals depicting the new terminal, just to name a few. This issue of the RDU Update also begins to define the important role RDU plays in the economic development of our region.

The ‘2007 State of the Research Triangle Region,’ by the Research Triangle Regional Partnership, reports that nearly 900,000 people will move to the region over the next 20 years. Many of these people are associated with businesses relocating here from larger metropolitan areas. The quality of RDU’s services plays a crucial role in business relocation plans and quality of life reviews. These new residents expect to have a world-class airport in their community. RDU acknowledges the importance of its role in the continued economic vitality of our region and of North Carolina.

The new terminal is the latest piece in RDU’s plans for the future. The airport will undergo continued metamorphosis over the next five years. Our goal is that each improvement we make along the way, will give our passengers a better travel experience than they ever had before at RDU.

Good travels,

Michael Weeks
