Development Continues on Terminal C Project

The view from the seventh floor of the parking garage towards Terminal C is vastly different than it was just six months ago. Where the North Concourse, Midways' former home, once stood, there is now an excavated hole with concrete foundations being poured daily. Materials from the North Concourse have been removed and recycled for reuse.

Excavation and foundation construction is well underway. One feature of the terminal redevelopment is that all the bulky equipment needed for heating and air conditioning will be built into the “basement level” instead of taking up valuable real estate in the public areas of the new Terminal C.

The structural grid is being planned and final stages of design are to be incorporated. Following the final planning and design, RDU will send out requests for proposals (RFPs) for the construction phase of the project. The RFPs will go out this fall. One activity you may observe is the construction of a pipeline for hot and cold water and emergency electrical power. This pipeline will connect the new Central Energy Plant to Terminal C. Construction will be visible from Terminal Boulevard.

RDU Launches Web Site Redesign

With its ongoing commitment to customer service, RDU has given its Web site a makeover. On June 22nd, RDU launched its new Web site, complete with user-friendly navigation, more maps and new sections that highlight the construction projects and progress at RDU.

The Web address remains the same at www.rdu.com, although specific pages that you have bookmarked may change due to the redesign.

Airport Authority staff reviewed how visitors use the Web site to put the most frequently requested sections in a more prominent location with an easy-to-navigate layout. The overall redesign ensures that the online content is current and accurate. It also features more information than ever – information ranging from airline service to lost and found.

Additional highlights of the new Web site include an online flight guide that is updated daily and detailed parking information with maps and specifics on ground transportation options. Visitors to the Web site will now be able to quickly access information about everything from renting the General Aviation Terminal to planning which restaurant to patronize while waiting for a plane.

A key highlight on the newly-designed homepage is a permanent section for traveler updates and advisories. This prominent location will function as a timely notification of new air service, construction that may impact RDU passengers and other announcements.

RDU continues to put the needs of the traveling public first by offering an easy-to-use site with a wealth of important travel information at the users' fingertips. Be sure to update any pages you may have bookmarked from the older version of the RDU.com.

Visit www.rdu.com today for all your travel needs and enjoy the new look!

American Eagle Award

The Employment Security Commission of North Carolina chose American Eagle at RDU for the Employee of the Year award. The award was presented to RDU-American Eagle's General Manager Jeff Wood by Harry Payne, Chairman of the Employment Security Commission.

American Eagle worked with the Employment Security Commission (ESC) when they announced new employment opportunities at RDU and enlisted the ESC's help in hiring over 100 employees to staff the new Eagle operation at RDU.
