The USO at RDU is flourishing. Due to increasing demand by our traveling military personnel, the USO is now open 24-hours-a-day with a largely volunteer staff. Each night the USO staff and volunteers welcome and assist ten to twenty military personnel and their families — no matter what the time.
Each month the USO serves nearly 2,000 people from the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, as well as their families and retired military personnel. The USO features a TV/VCR/DVD, video games, a children's corner, travel assistance, computers with Internet access and snacks, sandwiches and warm meals.
Donations keep the USO going. The center receives donations of food from Whole Foods Market, the Double Tree Hotel and Kellogg's. The Alternative School in North Raleigh donates 400 prepared lunches monthly. Many churches, civic organizations and caring individuals make baked goods and meals and donate snack items for the troops. |
