As you prepare for holiday trips, be aware of the construction projects that are ongoing at RDU. The airport has made all possible allowances to reduce inconveniences to holiday passengers but there is re-routing that will occur that may impact your normal travel patterns. For up-to-date construction notices, visit www.rdu.com.
Terminal A Crosswalks
At Terminal A, the airport is eliminating most surface crosswalks for improved pedestrian safety. In the area near the main baggage claim, surface crosswalks will connect with the commercial curb to access Park & Ride, hotel/motel and rental car shuttles, as well as the TTA buses and limousine service. All travelers who wish to access the parking garage from this area will be directed to the underground pedestrian tunnel. This will reduce pedestrian contact with vehicles and also provide an enclosed, climate-controlled environment for travelers during inclement weather.
Travelers on Southwest and AirTran airlines can use the pedestrian tunnel or the surface crosswalk at the north end of Terminal A to enter the terminal-area parking facility.

Terminal C Crosswalk
RDU is redeveloping and expanding Terminal C. The north and south crosswalks have been removed, and will be replaced by a larger central pedestrian bridge. Pedestrians heading to and from Terminal C will use the north crosswalk on the upper level. The new center walkway will open in December 2005.
Travelers may notice the progress on the central walkway as they exit the airport by Terminal C with the construction of concrete columns flanking the roadway.

Terminal C Area Parking
All passengers using the terminal area parking garage will use the upper level of Terminal C to access the parking garage. RDU regrets any inconvenience this may cause passengers.
As construction continues on a portion of the parking garage across from Terminal C, the left lane in front of lower level Terminal C has been closed as crews build an additional lane on Terminal Boulevard. The new lane will make space for a curb for commercial vehicles, including RDU park and ride and hotel shuttles.
