To help visitors adjust to the changes, the Airport Authority will station extra staff members throughout the terminals and parking garage to help passengers and greeters find their way. Extra staff will be on hand throughout the busy year-end holidays.
The Transportation Security Administration is also making changes to the security checkpoint area as well. Special lanes will be set up to assist families at each of RDU's three checkpoints, in addition to the family lanes already in place at Terminal 2. In addition, passengers carrying liquids exempt from the 3-1-1 rule must use the family checkpoint lanes.
In the midst of these changes will be some familiar airport holiday traditions. Between Friday, Dec. 19 and Wednesday, Dec. 24, a number of music groups will be located throughout the terminal to entertain passengers and spread holiday cheer. Also, there will be a number of children's events and other activities, such as caricature artists, throughout the terminal during the peak travel period.
