From the Chairman
Airport Opening New Chapter in History

Over the past few months, Raleigh-Durham International Airport has been creating new chapters in history. From the opening of Terminal 2 to the announcement of new air service to Paris, the Raleigh-Durham Airport Authority is making strides in its commitment to provide central North Carolina with the best possible aviation facility.

Each day, thousands of passengers are using Terminal 2, which opened on Oct. 26. The new facility's spacious column-free design offers numerous amenities ranging from power outlets by the seats to 26 new restaurant and retail choices. International passengers are also benefiting from a much-improved U.S. Customs experience.

The true beauty of this building doesn't rest in its stunning architecture, but rather its ability to grow and adapt with the changing dynamics of the aviation industry. Common-use technology allows the Airport Authority greater flexibility in assigning space to ensure maximum operating efficiency at all times. This translates to an airport that can weather the ups and downs of the economy.

Also strengthening our region is Delta's announcement of non-stop service from RDU to Paris. The new flight will bring our region within one connecting flight of destinations throughout Europe, Africa and Asia. It will complement our existing daily service to London by providing a separate array of connections to destinations already being visited by Triangle residents and not offered through Heathrow.

The flight is certain to open new business and tourism opportunities for the region. Major companies in our area will have one-stop service from RDU to their corporate campuses. New destinations such as Vietnam and a host of African national capitals will bring North Carolina much closer to the rest of the world.

This holiday season, enjoy these two gifts provided to you by your Airport Authority. Trust that we will continue to work hard to give you even more travel opportunities in the future.

Travel safe,
