New Air Service To Sunny Destinations

Airlines at RDU continue to add nonstop service between the Research Triangle region and popular tourist and business destinations. Luckily this winter, the theme is warm and sunny. A number of airlines are adding flights to Florida and farther south.

Beginning January 10, JetBlue Airlines will begin seasonal nonstop service to Fort Lauderdale. Southwest Airlines will offer daily nonstop service between RDU and Fort Lauderdale beginning February 4, 2008.

The Thanksgiving travel period officially kicks off at RDU on Monday, November 20.

Fort Lauderdale was not the only Florida city to attract new service from airlines serving RDU. AirTran Airways will begin nonstop service to Orlando on February 14. Each year, approximately 325,000 people travel between RDU and Orlando. Currently, passengers can travel to Orlando on Delta and Southwest.

Delta Airlines offers a great new international flight when it begins weekly service on Saturdays between RDU and sunny Cancun. Beginning February 2, Triangle travelers will have nonstop service to the popular tourist destination in Mexico.

New Delta Aircraft Takes Flight to LA

Delta Airlines recently introduced the new Boeing 737-800 to travelers on its popular Los Angeles flight. The new aircraft features seats with increased space and additional under seat storage and Delta’s own digital entertainment system, which is available at every passenger’s seat. The aircraft will be used on a rotation basis on the RDU-LAX route.

The aircraft also features technology that improves operating and fuel efficiency.

Delta offers one daily nonstop flight from RDU to Los Angeles. The airline launched the service in June 2006.
